How to Connect
New to Pearl Church? We’re glad you've found us! Pearl exists to express a sacred story and extend a common table, that animate life by divine love—and there’s room at our table for you!
First, keep in touch - use our digital communication card below, and sign up for our weekly email newsletter to keep in the loop on what’s happening at Pearl!
We offer a number of opportunities open for getting involved, listed below.
Linger after our Sunday worship service. On the second and fourth Sundays of each month, we offer donuts after service for new visitors and a chance to connect and ask questions about Pearl. Most Sundays after worship a handful of people in attendance self organize and grab lunch together downstairs at Laughing Planet and Hot Lips Pizza.
From late September through early June, a number of Home Groups meet throughout the Portland metro area to cultivate our church's rhythms. We encourage everyone who calls Pearl Church "home" to participate in a Home Group. Learn more about our Home Groups.
Every second Thursday of the month, we hold a Connecting Night at Lucky Lab (1945 NW Quimby St.). Come grab a drink or slice of pizza, bring a game and your kids, or just show up and enjoy the conversation. More information on upcoming Connecting Nights can be found in Events or by signing up for our weekly newsletter.
One Sunday a month following the service, Pastor Mike leads a book discussion. A book is selected in advance and participants gather to discuss how to understand and be shaped by the sacred story that is illuminated in that book selection. More information on upcoming book discussions can be found in Events or by signing up for our weekly newsletter.
During the school year, our Formation ministry offers monthly gatherings that aim to help us grow in wholeness and our connection to God, self and others. These are open to everyone. More information on Formation and upcoming events can be found at our Formation page or by signing up for our weekly newsletter.
Our Neighbors ministry aims to build relationships with the residents at the Pearl Court Apartments next door, by offering a monthly food pantry, as well as a monthly dinner and activity. We are always looking for more people to get involved and it’s a great way to get to know other people from our church while also making a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors. More information on upcoming food pantries and dinners can be found in Events or by contacting Leslie.
Each quarter during the school year we hold an Educational Gala. Educational Galas are opportunities to discuss practical, theological, and biblical topics that we aren't able to cover on Sunday mornings or in home groups. Each 90-minute seminar is followed by time to gather and share in conversation. More information on upcoming Educational Galas can be found in Events or by signing up for our weekly newsletter.
After church once a quarter we hold an all-church Potluck: in the fall, at the start of Advent and Lent, and once during the summer. These meals directly after our church service are a great way to get plugged in and meet others at Pearl.
Our Formation ministry offers a retreat several times a year—a half-day pause from the bustle of life to quiet down, listen and rest in God’s presence. Typically retreats are offered during Advent, Lent, and during the summer as well. Upcoming retreats will be listed in the Events page.
