EMO Offering: Serve at the Food Pantry

Join Pastor Mike at this service opportunity with Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon! Volunteers will be helping at the Northeast Emergency Food Program. NEFP holds indoor, self-serve shopping for its clients and we will be helping serve clients directly. Some positions involve light lifting (up to 20 pounds). Volunteers who can speak even basic Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese or Ukrainian (or Russian) would be very useful. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

EMO Offering: A Feast of Creation

This is an offering of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, an organization with partner with for social justice and service.

Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s Creation Justice program invites you to this free online (Zoom) training on July 22 from 12 to 1 p.m. Pacific.

A new holy day has arrived after decades of collaboration across Christian traditions. Explore the Feast of Creation’s meaning and history, then envision this celebration in your community! The training will be led by Rev. Richenda Fairhurst, chair of EMO’s Creation Justice Committee, member of the Coordinating Team for the United Methodist Creation Justice Movement, and co-host of the monthly Movement Cafe.

2026 Collins Lecture: A Conversation on the Separation of Church and Hate

John Fugelsang is an actor, comedian and host of “Tell Me Everything” on SiriusXM Progress. He is also the author of New York Times bestseller, “Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person’s Guide to Taking Back the Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists and Flock-Fleecing Frauds.”

Fugelsang uses humor and biblical scholarship to challenge far-right Christian ideologies, such as Christian nationalism, and argues for a return to the core teachings of Jesus–love, mercy and service. He provides a toolbox for responding to Christian nationalism on the biggest issues that divide us today: immigration, LGBTQIA2S+ rights, poverty, gun safety, feminism, the death penalty, and more.

Fugelsang will be joined for a portion of the event for a conversation and Q&A led by Dr. Jessica Taylor, a strategic executive advisor, ordained minister and founder of Leadership Training Initiative.
