Community Board
Looking to find or share local events, service opportunities, or have a small business that others at Pearl might be able to support? There are so many good things happening in our community, and while we can’t officially be involved as a church with everything, we are happy to help connect Pearl Church members with one another in common interests, and provide a place to share helpful resources.
The listings below are submitted by Pearl community members, and are not vetted or endorsed by Pearl Church.

The Albina Cooperative Garden is the largest urban farm in the inner Portland area. Join us to learn about organic gardening, composting, pollinator habitat, and pruning while giving back to the local community. Volunteers will be doing a variety of activities, all of which are needed to grow organic food in a farm setting. Typically these will include: weeding, spreading compost/woodchips, composting, digging, planting, watering, transplanting, harvesting and pruning, and to help maintain the garden infrastructure.
Volunteers should plan to bring (or wear) outdoor/gardening gear per the weather, a water bottle and gloves. Tools will be provided on site.

Unity Farm is a shared space, collectively stewarded by farmers of color and Oregon Food Bank staff and volunteers. It is necessary that the folks we welcome to the farm are in value alignment with us and the work we do, to unlearn and undo the ways of white supremacy in ourselves, our food systems, and our relationship to wellness.
Volunteers will work on seasonal projects with guidance from team leaders and staff. We do a variety of tasks that involve standing, squatting, pulling, and lifting. Please let us know if you have any special needs. We ask that you wear sturdy, comfortable, close-toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Also, please bring a water bottle. We make every effort to ensure the safety of our volunteers. The farm is open rain or shine; please be sure to dress appropriately.
Sunday, April 26, noon-1pm
For those of you involved and/or interested in community service or activism in Portland, join us for an informal gathering after second service on Sunday, April 26 in the Ecotrust first floor atrium.
For our April meeting, we’ll be focusing on immigrant support and solidarity. We encourage folks to attend one of the monthly Migra Watch trainings put on by Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition (PIRC)– this is a 2-hr participatory training held virtually mid-month and in-person end of the month. Completing the entire training is required to join the statewide rapid response network and neighborhood notification system. https://pircoregon.org/get-involved/events
If you’ve already been involved as a trained observer, accompaniment support, or other forms of immigrant solidarity, please come share your experience!

Pearl Community Offerings
A spot for Pearl Church community members to share info about their own offerings—events, small businesses, etc.—that others at Pearl might be interested in.
Pacific Youth Choir makes rigorously excellent music education and intentional youth leadership development accessible to all young people in our region—regardless of background or financial circumstances. We do this by combining expert musical instruction with genuine community care, creating spaces where young people learn to sing with artistry, confidence, and belief in themselves.
