Serving & Giving
Sundays
On Sundays we gather together for corporate worship. This service anchors our community and it sets a gospel-rhythm for our lives each week, year after year. Many people are involved in making corporate worship happen. Nursery and Children's Ministry volunteers, ushers, musicians, reading scripture, serving communion, greeting guests and answering questions. These are just a few of the ways you can serve on Sundays.
Home Groups
We believe that church is not just an individual experience to be consumed on Sundays. We believe we are called to be church—a community that seeks to follow Jesus together in the context of real relationships where we live out the values of the Kingdom of God. This is very difficult to do, just on Sunday mornings. We can’t have real relationships with 100 people, especially when most of the worship service isn’t about talking with one another. We need to make space for real relationships beyond Sunday mornings in order for us to be church. To foster community we need people to serve as Home Group leaders and Home Group Hosts. If you love people and desire to intentionally shepherd a few, or if you love to open your home so that community can gather, will you consider serving in the Home Group Ministry?
Outreach
Pearl Church seeks to ground its philosophy of outreach and missions on the fulcrum of God's love. Jesus tells us that the two greatest commandments are to (1) love God with all our hearts and (2) to love our neighbor as ourselves. These commandments inform every policy and decision bearing upon our relationship to our community and our world. We express these values locally through various service opportunities and by teaming with established ministries that serve the neighborhood around us. We express these values globally by teaming with organizations and individuals who reflect the love of Jesus and the heart of Pearl Church around the world. Our Outreach Ministry offers all kinds of opportunities to serve. You can care for the homeless through Nightstrike or love on children through B-Town kids; participate in justice issues through our justice team; bring the good news of Jesus to the developing world through water education and sanitation. There are also many opportunities to partner with and serve our missionaries.
Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart. – 1 Peter 1:22
